These illustrations were inspired by “Bordados de Carbajales de Alba”; hand-made, intricate and unique embroidery design that began roughly in 1490.

This elaborate embroidery takes many months of careful execution and the designs consist of complex and abundant floral patterns with a unique colour palette that is reflected of their rich culture and it is a symbol of proud Zamora, Spain.

Although I was born in Zamora, I have lived most of my life in Canada and the rich culture of Zamora is only beginning to interest me greatly. As I emerge myself into my own heritage and culture, I am interested in creating Zamora culture-rich designs that are inspired by its culture but adapted to our new-more international world.

I want to use my contemporary art techniques and methods to bring attention to Zamora and to entice people to get interested in all the beautiful craft and culture from the area.
